Biostimulators at Skinstitute: Collagen Support, Personalized for You

LED BY DR. CHARLENE PALAFOX · PDS BOARD-CERTIFIED DERMATOLOGIST

    OVERVIEW

Biostimulators help your skin produce collagen over time. Depending on the treatment, they may improve firmness, texture, fine lines and facial volume. Some treatments also provide earlier volume or structural support.

At Skinstitute, Dr. Charlene Palafox recommends treatment based on your facial anatomy, skin concerns and goals. Our options include collagen stimulators and injectable collagen, which work differently.

    • Sculptra (PLLA)

Stimulates collagen production to gradually improve selected areas of facial volume loss and wrinkles.

    • RadiaLift+ (Radiesse)

Provides structural support for selected jawline, chin and cheek concerns while stimulating collagen over time.

    • Hybrid Radiesse-Belotero

Combines Radiesse and a Belotero hyaluronic acid filler in a personalized treatment plan for contouring and smoothing.

    • Deusaderm

Supplies collagen directly and may improve selected under-eye hollows and related shadowing. Not all dark circles respond to injectable treatment.

    • JuveFirm (JuveLook)

Combines PDLLA and hyaluronic acid to support collagen production and hydration. It may improve fine lines and uneven texture and make pores look less noticeable.

    FREQUENTLY ASKED

    Questions, answered

    What are biostimulators?+

Injectable treatments that encourage your skin to produce collagen over time. This page also includes Deusaderm, which supplies collagen directly and works differently.

    What can they improve?+

Depending on the product, they may improve firmness, texture, fine lines, facial contours or volume loss.

    Does treatment hurt?+

The injections include lidocaine to help reduce discomfort. You may still feel brief stinging or pressure during treatment.

    Is there downtime?+

Swelling, redness, tenderness or bruising may last several days or longer. Follow your dermatologist’s aftercare instructions.

    Are there risks?+

Persistent lumps, inflammation, infection and allergic reactions can occur. Rare blood-vessel complications can cause skin injury or vision loss. Seek urgent medical care for severe or unusual pain, pale or dusky skin, or any vision changes.

    When will I see results?+

Collagen-related improvements develop over weeks to months. Some products provide earlier volume or contour changes, but initial swelling is not the final result.

How many sessions will I need?+

It depends on the product, your concerns and your response. Your dermatologist will explain the recommended treatment course.

    How long do results last?+

Duration varies by product and patient. Results are not permanent, and maintenance may be recommended.

Can all biostimulators treat under-eye hollows?+

No. Not every product is suitable for the under-eye area. Deusaderm may be considered after assessing your hollows, puffiness and the cause of dark circles.

    Are biostimulators right for me?+

Your dermatologist will assess your skin, medical history and goals to determine whether treatment is suitable.
